And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…

Karagula | Styxx, Tottenham Hale | 10 Jun-19 July (pictured)
If you haven’t seen this yet, then hurry up, there’s only a month to go. Seriously, though, I don’t think you want to miss this, because it sounds completely excellent and rather exciting. Described as “a world premiere of epic proportions”, it’s by renowned, multi-talented and across-genre creative Philip Ridley, and explores the human need to search for meaning. I think it sounds very, very cool. See this page here for more info.

Monsters For Monsters | New Diorama Theatre | 18-23 Jun
This is a mini film festival curated by award winning comedy troupe Kill The Beast, who have chosen movies that inspired their latest show. Tonight it’s the unparalleled ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’, but you can see one of the others if you prefer. Every screening includes a film quiz with prizes and a sneak preview of the group’s aforementioned new set. See the venue website here for all the details.

Piece Of Silk | The Hope Theatre | 14 Jun-2 Jul
Inspired by ‘The Arabian Nights’ and the story of Shahrazad and those 1001 nights, ‘Piece Of Silk’ is about pitting the power of storytelling against the devastation of domestic violence. It’s been put together in collaboration with SBS (Southall Black Sisters), IKWRO (Iranian and Kurdish Women Rights Organization) and NSU (Not Shut Up), and clearly sounds as though it focuses on some fairly emotive issues. The sort of thing that really ought to be seen. Follow this link for info and to book.
