And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…

Andrew Hunter Murray: Round 1 | The Wenlock & Essex | 23 Jun (pictured)
It’s now very much edfringe preview time, and I suspect this is one. It doesn’t seem particularly to be labelled as such, but the show is doing a full run at the Festival, so, you know, it is, really. Anyway, if you haven’t heard of Andrew Hunter Murray it’s either a) a problem or b) a result of the fact that you do actually know who he is but aren’t sure what he’s called. He’s a member of utterly outstanding improv troupe Austentatious and also a QI elf, amongs other accomplishments, and this is his debut solo hour. Bet it’s really clever and really funny. You can book tickets here.

Pure Evil On The King’s Road | Proud Chelsea | 23 Jun-7 Aug
Now, before you start worrying that bad stuff’s going to be going down on one of London’s best known thoroughfares, this is in fact an exhibition of original artworks by acclaimed British street artist Pure Evil, aka Charles Uzzell-Edwards. His portraits of sixties icons are rendered in a Warhol-like style, and share the artist’s trademark tear drop emblem. Scroll down this page here for more info.

Samantha Baines | Museum Of Comedy | 23 Jun+21 Jul
And so, to another Edinburgh preview (I won’t do any tomorrow), this time over at the Musem Of Comedy. Award winning comedian Samantha Baines presents her first solo show, ‘1 woman, A Dwarf Planet, and 2 Cox’, which, as the title suggests, takes space as its theme, the topic of whether we are alone in the universe. She’s had great reviews and done lots of TV and radio, as well as winning those aforementioned awards, so I reckon this is another debut hour you can definitely expect good things from. Head this way for more info.
