Three To See on 24 May: This Is Just Who I Am, Grace Savage Live Show, Hip Hop Cabaret

And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…
This Is Just Who I Am | Camden People’s Theatre | 24-26 May
“Do you find me likeable? Would you happily spend an hour with me? How about two? This is a show about identity, authenticity and the murky area in between. It’s about being yourself, and not having a fucking clue what that even means. Using nothing but a microphone, a poorly put together soundtrack and a ludicrous outfit, it exposes the daily acts of duplicity we commit in attempting to obscure the darkest parts of ourselves.” Intriguing-looking work from Miranda Prag, see the venue website here.
Grace Savage Live Show | The Space | 24 MAy
We all love beatboxing here at TW Towers, and so it’s a not infrequent occasion when I recommend a show involving it. Of course, normally when I recommend it, it’s a man doing it, and it’s a delight to be able to talk about a beatboxer that isn’t male. The 4 times UK Beatboxing champion, singer/songwriter will perform a mixture of original tracks and covers with musicians Chris Bartholomew and Ben Cartwright. Yay. Info here.
Hip Hop Cabaret | Underbelly Festival | 24 May
And more music-y stuff for you, this time a hip hop cabaret hosted by Fatman Scoop. “You never knew there was a show quite like this before.” runs the blurb. “Tantalising burlesque meets explosive beatbox b-boy break-dancers and twerking trap queens mixed with international pole dancers perform routines to Hip Hops most beloved anthems.” Head this way for details.
