And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…
Beetles From The West | The Hope Theatre | 5-23 Jul
This show, first performed relatively recently at the Old Red Lion, tackles some important stuff – men’s health, what happens when you don’t speak out, the devastation that can follow when symptoms arise but we can’t bring ourselves to face a doctor… this is the story of Boyd, whose father is taken ill, and who must deal alone with a new life of doubt and uncertainty. See the venue website here for details.
Barbarians | Sadler’s Wells | 6-8 Jul
Sadler’s Wells associate artist Hofesh Shechter’s much acclaimed dance trilogy returns, three contrasting pieces tackling intimacy, passion and the banality of love. Expect world class dancers, and a powerful, thrilling, visceral experience. To book your tickets head for this page here.
Peter Schlemiel | Theatre N16 | 4-7 Jul (pictured)
Even if you haven’t read it, you are probably aware of the existence of Adelbert von Chamisso’s classic 1814 novella about the man who sold his shadow to the devil. This show, a new adaptation of the story, was created by Matthew Bosley for Mountview Academy’s Postgraduate Theatre Directors’ season, and transfers for a short run to Theatre N16.
