And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…

The Great Gatsby | Greenwich Theatre, ArtsDepot | 6-14 Oct
You’ve got two London venues to choose from to see this staging of ‘The Great Gatsby’, Greenwich Theatre or Finchley’s ArtsDepot. This adaption, commissioned by Blackeyed Theatre to mark the 90th anniversary of the novel’s publication, is on a significantly sized 98 date tour of the UK, and looks brilliantly like a fabulously roaring, flappertastic production. See the Greenwich theatre website here or the ArtsDepot website here for more info.

The Fallen Woman | The Foundling Museum | 25 Sep-3 Jan
This is a fascinating looking exhibition focusing on the theme of the Victorian ere portrayal, in art and in the media, of ‘fallen women’. It features the work of artists such as Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Richard Redgrave, George Frederic Watts and Thomas Faed, as well as a specially commissioned sound installation from composer Steve Lewinson. See this page here for more info.

Filmland | Camden People’s Theatre | 6-7 Oct
The Calm Down Dear festival of feminist stuff is still ongoing over at the Camden People’s Theatre, and this particular show caught my attention because of its historically factual jumping off point, and the fact that it combines styles of the period covered – silent film and music hall – in a radical alternative history of the birth of film. See this page here for more info and tickets.
