And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…

Julio Torres – My Favourite Shapes | Soho Theatre | 6-11 Aug (pictured)
I think this is the sort of thing that isn’t to everyone’s tastes, because it’s what you might call a surreal flight of fantasy, but I am going to bet that the majority of comedy-goers will go for this. “SNL staff writer Julio Torres guides a camera through his favourite shapes which include a plexi-glass square, a triangle, a self-conscious Faberge egg who wonders if he’s too much and a Ferrero Rocher wrapper that reminds him of Melania Trump.” See this page here for more.

For A Lost Soldier | The Albany | 7 Aug
Supported by The Heritage Lottery Fund marking the 100th Anniversary of the end of the First World War, ‘For A Lost Soldier’ is about a small community in the aftermath of the war, detailing how it coped when the soldiers returned home and how they worked towards rebuilding their lives. Expect an intimate performance that’s a love story and a thriller rolled into one, head this way for more.

The Prometheus Revolution | Arcola Theatre | 7-10 Aug
“With society in meltdown, the Prime Minister and his wife have taken poison, two trillion pounds has gone missing from the City and the army is hovering to take control. Only the Prometheus Peace Movement stands between chaos and tyranny. Pinioned in the midst of all this the activists within the peace movement find themselves playing out the eternal myth of Prometheus, who took the fire from the Gods to give it to the mortals. But they too may pay a high price for their audacity.” Another show timed with the WW1 anniversary in mind, but also part of the brilliant Grimeborne – a new opera from Keith Burstein.
