Wow, what a lot of timely arts attractions London has ticking away inside it today. So punctual too, since they’re sharing the same space continuum with the Roundhouse’s new giant clock-face/light installation, ‘Timepiece’. With that in mind, set aside a sec to check these cultural ones-to-watch…

TODAY’S FESTIVAL CHOICES
The Pace Of Time, Roundhouse, 2-4 Aug (pictured)
Marking the installation of artist Conrad Shawcross’ aforementioned ‘Timepiece’, a giant, faceless clock hanging over the Roundhouse’s circular main space, the RH commissions a series of AV events meant to engage with the idea of time itself via music, film and art. Tonight’s, titled ‘A Refutation’, is a live improvised collaboration by Ashley Paul, Factory Floor‘s Nik Colk Void (pictured) and Tom James Scott, whilst latter Saturday/Sunday facets, ‘In To Fragments’ and ‘A Contemporary Interruption’, are programme of film shorts. Watch This Space… August Outdoors, National Theatre, 2 Aug
Having initially cancelled it to make way for its new temp space The Shed, the NT has re-instated its highly-watchable open-air festival. Starting with a bang tonight via Half Human Theatre’s ‘rooting-tooting rock N roll knockabout’ ‘Sneakers/Streetlights’, WTS’ free-to-see twelve-week selection, which is mainly tailored to families, later features indiscreet mind-reader Vernon Ponder, pavement chalk drawing aka ‘screeving’ en masse with Urban Canvas, magic puppetry in Laitram’s ‘Capses’, a ‘wry’ caravan gallery and Ella Good & Nicki Kent’s mobile hair-salon musical ‘Total Eclipse Of The Head’. Tower Theatre shows love for provocative 1960s playwright Joe Orton, imagining his sadly short life in the style of one of his own plays, as sex, death, and lies share the same bed in a blacky hilarious fashion. Details and tickets here.
