Nina Conti

It’s Bank Holidaaayyyyy, which means it’s time to cut the ribbon at this year’s London Wonderground, a tented celebration of circus and cabaret arts. So whilst that’s going on, why not lift a figurative flap on this encampment of the capital’s highest quality cultural innards…

TODAY’S COMEDY CHOICES

Comedy In The Dark presents… Arthur Smith/David Morgan/Sean McLoughlin/Matt Rees, Udderbelly Southbank, 6 May
You’ll never guess who’s appearing at tonight’s Comedy In The Dark  special, primarily because the Udderbelly lights will be off for the entire show. So here’s the info; headlining is amiable TV grinch Arthur Smith,  bespectacled self-styled ‘geek’ David Morgan, the “charmingly ramshackle” Sean McLoughlin and Welsh “comic actress” (at least, so says his Twitter handle) Matt Rees, who’ll all have to wing it based on their voices alone. Details and tickets here.

Nina Conti – Dolly Mixtures, Soho Theatre, 6-25 May (pictured)
The acclaimed Nina Conti dips into a dark and delectable grab-bag of comic ventriloquism, man-handling a cast of ‘crazy’ characters to great (and occasionally hysterical) effect. Details and tickets here.

TODAY’S FESTIVAL CHOICES

Land Of Kids, Dalston, 6 May
A U-rated spin-off to Dalston’s slightly more ‘adult’ Land Of Kings festival, which was yesterday, this Bank Holiday spesh is a veritable cultural creche of kids’ activities and attractions, be they conventional (shadow puppet-making, facepainting, a pop-up zoo, a baby disco and high tea) or slightly less so (a pink UV aerobics room with bubble machine, a ‘scooter paint party’, a cardboard kingdom). Details and tickets here.
