So, it’s Saturday – make the most of it via the following top-quality cultural options…
TODAY’S COMEDY CHOICES
Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy Radio Show, Hackney Empire, 14-15 Sep
Douglas Adams’ ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide’ is re-re-imagined as a radio show with added laughter, a live band, HD visuals, and drinks with silly names. As is right and fitting, Simon Jones plays Arthur Dent, while Neil Gaiman on Saturday and Jon Culshaw on Sunday appear as the VIP Guest Voice Of The Book. Details and tickets here.
TODAY’S MUSIC CHOICES
Babyshambles, O2 Academy Brixton, 14 Sep
Pete D’s Babyshambles seem pretty in the pink at present, that’s if their new LP ‘Sequel To The Prequel’ is any indication. Tonight’s show, if it goes off according to plan, will mark part of the band’s first tour since 2010. Details and tickets here.
TODAY’S THEATRE CHOICES
The Lightning Child, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, 14 Sep – 12 Oct
Not really fit for kids’ eyes (that title is a bit misleading), this fiery, psychedelic spin on Euripides’ ‘The Bacchae’ deals in sex, gender schism, repression, addiction, envy, retribution and extra sex, switching its setting between ancient Thebes and present-day LDN. Details and tickets here.
