TODAY’S COMEDY CHOICES

Shambles Edinburgh Work-In-Progress Weekender, Colonel Fawcett, 29-30 Jun
Shambles presents a pair of thrice-as-cheap triple-bills priced at £1 each, all featuring samples of shows set for this year’s Edinburgh Fringe still ‘in progress’, as it were. On today’s itinerary – captivating Chippenham skinhead Will Hodgson, noisy Nick Helm and slick renaissance man Harry Deansway – and on tomorrow’s – sarcastic one-to-watch Pat Cahill, feminist champ Bridget Christie and mirth-giving maniac John Kearns. Details and tickets here.

TODAY’S FESTIVAL CHOICES

BowieFest, The Lion, 29 Jun (pictured)
Lovingly lampooning the V&A’s vastly popular (aka virtually inaccesible) ‘David Bowie Is’ exhibit, Weirdos comedians Matt Highton and Adam Larter host this moonage all-day dreamfest featuring Fosters nominated Ben Target, TV’s Nick Helm and stars-in-waiting Holly Burn, John Kearns and Karl Schultz; an interactive musical theatre show; a spoof display of silly paintings, merchandise and lyrics; and – ending it all as Ziggy might’ve wanted, had he not been killed off in 1973 – a DB disco. Details and tickets here.

TODAY’S THEATRE CHOICES

The Winter’s Tale, Regent’s Park, 29 Jun – 20 Jul
The lost princesses, wild beasts, magic and sheep-shearing littering Shakespeare’s agrarian fairytale are reimagined for anyone aged six and over, this as part of Regents Park’s Open Air Theatre initiative. Details and tickets here.
