Comedy Magic Music Musicals Theatre
Today in London: Sunday 21 April 2013
By TW Editorial | Published on Tuesday 16 April 2013
Dividing London’cultural wheat from its chaff is far from child’s play, even on Kindergarten Day.
That’s why we’ve had a go at doing it, and present you with this list of comical, musical and theatrical choices to toy with…
TODAY’S COMEDY CHOICES
The Birthday Whirligig, Globe Theatre, 21 Apr (pictured)
Celebrating the Bard’s imaginary b-day via this many-sided Whirligig, a mix of aural, visual and laughable delights Will Shakey’d really love, are The Magic Numbers and actor/musician Johnny Flynn (pictured above); BBC ‘Magicians’ Barry & Stuart and faux psychic Chris Cox; and tonight’s comic contingent, Piff The Magic Dragon and compere Bridget Christie. Details and tickets here.
TODAY’S MUSIC CHOICES
NOBUNNY, Brixton Windmill, 21 Apr
Rambunctious rock N roll rabbit NOBUNNY (that’s California’s Justin Champlin, to his acquaintances) hops to it tonight at Brixton’s fabled Windmill. ‘It’, by the way, is a dizzying live show incorporating partial nudity, great garage-pop and, if he’s in the mood, a ball gag. Details and tickets here.
TODAY’S THEATRE CHOICES
Showstoppers, Udderbelly Southbank, 21 Apr
Laughing in the face of spontaneity, famed improv pros The Showstoppers are capable of creating instantaneous dramatic magic “at the drop of a jazz shoe”, aka devising on-the-spot musical theatre. And they’ll be doing exactly that tonight, in the first of several Udderbelly invites. Details and tickets here.
