By TW Editorial | Published on Friday 20 September 2013
Make the most of this unusually fine (culture-wise, anyway) Thursday in London, and choose one of the following significant artistic occasions…
TODAY’S COMEDY CHOICES
Josh Widdicombe/Seann Walsh – The Greatest Hits So Far, Eventim Apollo, 26 Sep
Young bucks Josh Widdicombe and Seann Walsh – both sharp observational comics – split tonight’s bill 50/50, review their respective triumphs to date, and at the same time tape their two (solo) shows for two (solo) DVDs. Details and tickets here.
TODAY’S FESTIVAL CHOICES
Unsound London, various locations, 26-29 Sep
Poland’s super-ultra-alternative festival Unsound sprouts a London double, providing the space and time in the city for cross-border sonic commissions like ‘Concealed’, a project by Demdike Stare, Michael England and string players from Sinfonietta Cracovia, a rare PA by dark ambient lord Lustmord, and sets featuring Karenn (aka Blawan and Pariah), Forest Swords and King Midas Sound. Details and tickets here.
TODAY’S MUSIC CHOICES
Ja Ja Ja feat Eye Emma Jedi/Satellite Stories/Samaris, The Lexington, 26 Sep
Active again following a seasonal mini-break, live Nordic band night Ja Ja Ja will ease back into its occasional lock-in at London’s The Lexington via tonight’s showcase starring Norwegian punks Eye Emma Jedi, Finnish indie band Satellite Stories and Icelandic noir-tronica act Samaris. Details and tickets here.
TODAY’S THEATRE CHOICES
Ghosts, Almeida Theatre, 26 Sep – 23 Nov (pictured)
Having achieved Olivier-winning greatness via his 2005 adaptation of ‘The Dolls House’, Richard Eyre raids Henrik Ibsen’s archives again, this time casting Lesley Manville as Helene Alving, a woman desperate to escape the spectre of her heartless late husband. Details and tickets here.
