It’s that time again (aka Wednesday), when we all need a little assistance in scrambling over the mid-week pain barrier. Here with an ancillary culture-based  hand, it’s today’s topping TW London-approved ‘whats on’ options…

TODAY’S COMEDY CHOICES

Jimmy McGhie/WitTank, Pleasance Islington, 10 Jul
As his friends have babies and buy flats, pathological kidder Jimmy McGhie is still wandering aimlessly, looking at things and “getting annoyed”. He shares his fears and ‘Delusions Of Candour’ tonight, live on stage, sharing space, if not time, with the brilliant WitTank boys. Details and tickets here.

Nick Hall/Tom Hensby, Shaker & Company, 10 Jul
Half of catchy sketch n singing act The Three Englishmen, that’s Nick Hall and Tom Hensby, hone new shows pre Edinburgh Fringe for free. Hall’s ‘Live!’, his first solo foray, is a gift to aficionados of Watford, Homebase and Tom Cruise, whilst Hensby in ‘Uncle Henry’s Happy Hour’ poses as a dodgy ex-con and wannabe millionaire with billions of trillions-spinning ideas to pitch. Details here.

TODAY’S MUSIC CHOICES

Le Volume Courbe, St Pancras Old Church, 10 Jul
An admirer of Patti Smith and pal to My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields (with whom she co-MDs a label, Pickpocket Records) rock n roll chanteuse Charlotte Marionneau and band preach their lo-fi dreamings circa 2011’s ‘Theodarus Rex’ EP. Details and tickets here.

Shuggie Otis, Village Underground, 10 Jul (pictured)
In this, the year of its celebrated re-release, LA-based funk/R&B great Shuggie Otis gives his 1974 LP ‘Inspiration Information’ a going over in this, a rare trans-Atlantic visit. Details and tickets here.
