And the LDN-based events ThisWeek is tipping today are….
COMEDY: Jack Dee’s Helpdesk, Soho Theatre Downstairs, 6-10 May (pictured)
In a dilemma and need it fixed? ‘Lead Balloon’ grinch Jack D is on the SOS helpline, and in a rare fit of kindliness will be dishing 100% sincere (and in no way disdainful) career, relationship and general life-advice to anyone asking for it. And when I say ‘asking for it’, I mean exactly that. Details and tickets here.
MUSIC: BadBadNotGood, XOYO, 6 May
Famed for both their original compositions and covers of others’ hip hop tracks, accomplished nouveau-jazz youth BadBadNotGood released their lyrics-less third LP, ‘III’, this very day. That’s a fact they’ll celebrate by playing live tonight at XOYO, in a show taken from the top of a span of European dates. Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: Closer Than Ever, Jermyn Street Theatre, 6 May – 7 Jun
Tony-winning lyricist Richard Maltby and a cast of seasoned theatre pros bring to life this compact off-Broadway classic, which has a lot to say on love, life and intimacy, in spite of the fact it has no dialogue. Details and tickets here.
